Updated The Good Shepherd
Shepherd, who with your loving whistles
awakened me from a deep sleep;
you, who made a staff of this wood
on which you stretch out your powerful arms:
turn your eyes to my pious faith,
for I confess you as my love and owner
and I commit my word to follow you
your sweet whistles and your beautiful feet.
Listen, Shepherd, who dies for love,
do not be frightened by the rigor of my sins,
for you are so fond of the surrendered.
Wait, then, and listen to my cares --
but how can I tell you to wait for me
if you are waiting for my nailed feet?
To faint, to dare, to be furious,
rough, tender, liberal, elusive,
encouraged, deadly, deceased, alive,
loyal, treacherous, cowardly and courageous:
not find outside the good center and rest,
appear happy, sad, humble, arrogant,
angry, brave, fugitive,
satisfied, offended, suspicious:
fleeing the face to the clear disappointment,
drink poison for soft liquor,
forget the profit, love the harm:
believe that heaven fits in hell;
give life and soul to a disappointment,
this is Love! Who tried it knows.
